The defense will wait until the appellate decision on the motion for clarification is published to decide which appeal they will file against the unlawful conviction imposed on former President Lula by the 8th Panel of the Regional Federal Court of the 4th Region (TRF4) on January 24.
During today’s trial the Reporting Appellate Judge read only a summary of his opinion which the other judges followed. The motion for clarification pointed out several omissions and contradictions in the appellate decision that should be rectified and, as a consequence, lead to the nullity of the procedure or to Lula’s acquittal. Reading the appellate decision will be necessary to assess if the Court addressed all of them.
Up to his moment the jurisdiction of the TRF4 has not been exhausted yet, and the court can still be questioned about the decision rendered today.
